AL's BRICK WALL BLOG on FACEBOOK

WHAT?               Get help in breaking through your brick wall.

WHO HELPS?     Other researchers around the world, along with GenealogyGenius.com.

HOW?                 Post a comment on our Facebook page explaining your brick wall problem.  The message size is limited, so you may have to add additional information in a follow up comment.

WHAT?                Explain your brick wall problem clearly and what you are looking to find.  Include all of the information you have collected including where you found the data.  Nothing is more aggravating, than spending time looking for data, only to find out that you had already found it.

We originally tried to set up a blog to handle your brick wall problems, but weren't able to make it work to our satisfaction.  So after viewing Cyndi's List Facebook page we decided to set up our own Facebook page.  In order to view the page you will have to be a member of Facebook, but that shouldn't deter you from joining in our discussions.

Our Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/pages/GenealogyGeniuscom

Please feel free to enter your genealogy problem, comment on our web site or just add your comments.

If you need help in getting started on Facebook, please send us an email, or ask your children or grandchildren for help.  We did.

Wierbicki, Ignatius
Please help Mary Ann break through her brickwall and find info on her grandfather, Ignatius Wierbicki and his wife, Anna Yanik.

Race or People: Polish      Last Residence: Russia

He was coming to visit a brother:  Adam Wierbicki

My grandmother, Anna Yanick (Source of Name:  Death Certificate) was married to him and became pregnant with my father.  We were told that Anna was also born in Coatesville, Pa., but can not definitely confirm that info.  She had sisters, but their last name was Ovsak.  Obviously Anna was born of a different father.    Before my father was born we were told that his father died in an industrial accident.  Some time after this industrial accident Anna married my step-grandfather, Anthony Gird.  My father was then named James Edward Gird, but not done legally at that time.

My father:  Ignatius Wierbicki (aka: James Edward Gird) was born in Coatesville, Pa. on May 13, 1919.   Source:  St. Louis The King, Detroit, Michigan  record of my mother and father's marriage.   This record stated my father was baptised at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Coatesville, Pa.   I did call this church and it was confirmed.  I was never able to get written documentation from the church.   This church also had a very large ethnic following and has a cemetery.  It had no records of Ignatius Wierbicki being buried.

I tried to send for my father's original birth certificate in Pennsylvania, but none could be found in that name.   My father had his name changed legally on April 18, 1939 from Ignatius Wierbicki to James Edward Gird.  I have a paper from Probate Court - Wayne County stating this info.  I also have a copy of a Certificate of Registration from Michigan Department of Health with the name James Edward Gird.
